3/25 Update

Keep on keeping on everyone 🙂 More packs added to our options — Adventures in the Forgotten Realms, Theros Beyond Death, Wilds of Eldraine, Outlaws of Thunder Junction, and Bloomburrow. If you have a favorite booster (under $40, lolz) that’s not listed here, let me know, and I’ll get it in the mix.

On or about April 7, I’ll send out a request for information so I can finalize the guest list, and get food and beverages ready. You’ll probably want to respond — the default is Malört with anchovy & ghost pepper pizza.

3/9 Update
We’ve added a Mystery Booster to the mix [edit: and Double Feature]. There will be more than 24 boosters for us to pick from; we’ll discuss for a few minutes which to include and which to open first. Generally, packs that focus on multi-colors are if better drafted first. (See: Alara, Ravnica.)

Q: I don’t play Magic. Can I come anyway?
A: OMG, I really dropped the ball here. Yes, of course, please come even if you’re not drafting. We have board games aplenty and lots of room. Just let me know if you’d like to join the party.

Q: How is the draft run? Do we keep the cards?
A: 1) This is run as a regular 8-person draft, although there is one step before cracking packs — the packs themselves will be drafted. There are a number of fun ways to do this; we can decide day of. We can play Swiss, Round Robin, or a League-style format I can describe that night.
2) Yes, you keep the cards you draft; yes, the draft is free. Pay it Forward when you can. Because of this, we agree to not “cash / rare draft”. This is a slippery concept, but we can chat briefly if you’re not familiar.

Q: Should I bring sleeves? Dice? Etc?
A: I have basic land. I’ll provide sleeves and deckboxes, but if you have a favorite brand, of course, bring those. There will be several life-tracking methods available if you don’t do that on your phone. I’ll have token cards, but that can be iffy. Stacks and stacks of dice.

Q: Where we at?
18839 102nd Ave SE
Renton, WA 98055

There is driveway and off-street parking.

Q: When do we start? When do we get tossed out?
A: 1) As close to 6:30 as work and traffic allow. I’ll be ready for guests at 5:30; if you don’t mind entertaining yourself while I finish prepping, you’re actually free come by any time after, say, noon.
2) You’re free to stay as long as you like; I will play as late as you want. If you need to stay over, we can make that work.

Q: What’s for dinner?
A: I’ll have the usual assortment of party snacks, and will order Domino’s pizza. There will be beer, cider, wine, and NA beverages. I’d be pleased to order your fave pizza topping and stock your favorite beverage if you’d let me know what they are.
